Worship with Us
For over 2000 years, Christians have gathered to encourage each other in their faith by performing together the basic duties of Christian life: to thank God for His goodness, to hear His holy word, and to ask Him for all that we need. According to this tradition, we invite you to join us in worship at any of our services.
First-Time Visitors
If you are planning to attend one of our services for the first time, you may find the following information helpful.
Families with Children
The children's table in the entryway of the church offers books and toys for children to borrow during services. (Please return all items after the service.)
A nursery for children up to age 3 is staffed every Sunday from 9:30 a.m. until the end of the Contemporary service. During the first half of the Contemporary service, a quiet alternative is available in the Rainbow Room for children four years and older.
Holy Communion
If you are baptized and believe, you are invited to receive Communion. You may kneel or stand at the altar rail, then extend your hands to receive the Bread and Cup. If you do not extend your hands, the Celebrant will give you a blessing.
To receive the Bread, place one palm over the other, and it will be placed upon your hand. You may consume the Bread at once, or you may dip it into the wine, when the Cup comes to you, and then consume it.
To receive the wine, take the bottom of the Cup and guide it to your lips for a sip. If you do not wish to receive the wine, cross your hands over your chest.
Gluten-free bread is made available to those who request it; be sure to let the Celebrant know before the service begins.
Sunday Morning Coffee and Fellowship
Coffee and refreshments are available downstairs after most Sunday services. Please plan on staying . . . We would love to get to know you!
Our Ministers
All of us at St. Peter's are ministers of God. Our priest (known in the Episcopal Church as the Rector) is available for pastoral care or counseling, or just a cup of coffee and a chat. You may approach him after the service or call the office.
Membership
Membership at St. Peter's is by baptism, recorded in the parish register. If you have been baptized elsewhere, the Rector can record the information in our register. If you have not been baptized, the Rector will be glad to explain the significance of baptism and make the necessary arrangements if you wish.
